American Photography 41 Winner

I’m so excited to share that one of my photographs from Japan has been selected for inclusion in American Photography 41. It’s truly an honor to have my work recognized in this way, especially alongside so many incredibly talented artists whose work continues to push the boundaries of contemporary photography.
This particular image, created during my time in Japan, is part of a body of work that came together slowly and intuitively. I wasn’t there on assignment — I was there to explore, get lost, and observe. Working in a new environment, surrounded by unfamiliar signs, sounds, and rhythms, forces you into a different state of awareness. You move through space differently. You look longer. You start to trust instinct over certainty, where some of the most interesting work lives.
Being included in American Photography for the second time is more than just a career milestone—it’s a reminder of why I do this work. Chasing light, mood, and moments that don't always explain themselves can still connect. The quieter images can still speak loudly. And personal work has a place in the wider conversation of contemporary photography.
