TIM STEVENS
TIM STEVENS

It was a new experience for me to use a glass of whiskey as a lighting gel, but it was fitting for a portrait of Tim Stevens. He is the owner of several popular bars in Buffalo, NY, including Lucky Day Whiskey Bar, Ballyhoo, and Graylynn, as well as a mobile bar and cocktail catering service called Dram Box.
Tim previously worked as the head bartender at Prohibition in San Diego but returned to Buffalo to open his first bar, Ballyhoo. The bar quickly gained recognition for its accessible cocktail menu, lack of pretension, and delicious food. Over the years, Tim opened two more bars, Lucky Day and Graylynn, each with its own unique atmosphere and focus on whiskey or gin.
All three of Tim's bars have excellent service and drinks, but they are distinct from one another. They have become institutions in Buffalo and are highly regarded by locals and visitors alike.
I first heard about Tim from Aaron Ingrao, a fellow photographer who is working on a project called Keepers of the Craft. The project documents the history of the American Craft Cocktail movement, and Tim's name frequently comes up in Aaron's discussions with great admiration.
