Boordy Vineyard For M&T Bank
BOORDY VINEYARD FOR M&T BANK

Instead of sun-drenched vines and playful harvests, my recent commercial photography adventure for M&T Bank unfolded amidst the frosted fields of Boordy Vineyards in Maryland. Crisp mornings, layers aplenty, and endless cups of cocoa fueled my exploration of this historic winery's unique story.
Beyond capturing picturesque landscapes, we aimed to delve deeper. Led by Rob Deford, the passionate president and chief winemaker whose family has nurtured these vineyards since the 1700s, we discovered a world of dedication that transcends seasons. Winter, we learned, is no time for rest. Pruning, planning, and meticulous care ensure the grapes that eventually blossom into award-winning wines begin their journey in the heart of winter.

Now, I readily admit my previous level of wine expertise primarily involved "red or white?" and "more, please!". However, thanks to this and some other recent advertising projects, I've developed a newfound appreciation for the meticulous art of vinification. This became an enlightening journey, revealing the grit and resilience that define the world of winemaking.
While much of this project called for me to collaborate with the crew handling the film portion of this project, I always try to take a different approach when it's beneficial to the story. Weaving between the crew's setups, I sought authentic moments and candid interactions that enriched the campaign across various print, web, and OOH uses.

This collaboration with both Crowley Webb and M&T Bank was exceptional. The creative freedom granted allowed me to capture unique perspectives and craft a powerful narrative. These images weren't simply destined for print ads; they aimed to resonate deeper, showcasing the genuine partnership between M&T Bank and Boordy Vineyards, deeply embedded in the local community.
So, the next time you raise a glass, remember the unseen dedication behind each sip.

Be sure to check out the commercial aspect of this campaign directed by Joshua Z Weinstein and produced by Washinton Square Films.
