INTERVIEWED BY THE WORLD FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS
INTERVIEWED BY THE WORLD FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS

I’m thrilled to share that I was recently featured by the World Food Photography Awards in their Around the World in Photographers: USA series, a spotlight on American photographers who are redefining how we see and tell food stories.
This year, I was honored to receive the James Beard Foundation Photography Award, with two of my images recognized as finalists (Including the winning image) and another receiving an honorable mention. In the interview, I spoke about my work photographing Tom and Caitlin Moriarty’s whole-animal butcher shop in Buffalo, NY — a project that celebrates the people and philosophies behind local food culture in my hometown.
Buffalo’s evolving culinary scene, shaped by immigrant and refugee communities, continues to inspire my storytelling. I shared that my approach to food photography is always rooted in authenticity, connecting with the people behind the dishes, understanding their values, and embracing the imperfect moments that make their stories real.

The piece also features incredible fellow photographers like Melissa Tantillo, Suzanne Becker Bronk, and Ellen Speiser, all highlighting the diversity and creativity within the U.S. food scene.
